Albino Peacock

A friend emailed these pictures, and since they were from Flicker, I thought I'd share..

We still have our peacock, although I have found the owner. He has several other peafowl, and mainly seems annoyed with this one since he is perfectly free to take himself the two and a half blocks home to his lovely wife anytime he chooses. He's been calling for her to join him here. We'll see what happens..

Meanwhile, I took myself into the rather murky, late afternoon, yesterday to take some pictures, took about twenty, and am not happy with any save a cunning, unidentified bird at the feeder. Later on for that one....

If you want to see some terrific animal pictures take a trip to Olivia's where she's done an interesting post on the Frankfurt Zoo and gives us a tantalizing glimpse into her new novel. Her first mystery was published only in German, but this one may be available in to us in English.

Thank you for mentioning my blog and the new post about my novel and the Frankfurt Zoo, Linda.

The white peacock is fantastic. I wrote a haiku about him:

albino peacock
snow white beauty in lace robe
feathered and spread wide

All peacocks are beautiful but the white one is exquisite - like something out of a fairytale.

I don't think I have ever seen a completely white peacock before. Great shots from your friend.
Thanks for dropping by my post and leaving your kind comments. Please come again.
I found your blog delightful. I am telling my son about your Oct.28th post since he was camping at Lake Tahoe this summer and had bears shuffling around his tent every night. All the food was secure in the anti bear lockers the campground provides.

The white peacock -- I thought immediately of the Snow Queen. Beautiful and other-worldly. My sad bird photography story is that bro & I spotted a non-Acorn woodpecker on our walk yesterday, I zeroed in on it with the zoom and still didn't have enough reach to get a decent photo. Ah well.

That is a gorgeous bird. I hope your peacock finds his mate a happy home on your acre. That would be cool!

The bird looks like a bride in an expensive gown. Wow. The best I ever did was get a white starling.

I did post some hummingbird photos yesterday at my website linked below.

akasha, yes, a white wraith...

meggie, yes Olivia's haiku is perfect!

Joni, I'm afraid if the owner finds the female has flown the coop, he'll come for them both..but it's a fun thought!

OML, a picture of a white starling is pretty terrific! Have you posted it? I'm on my way over to see your humming birds!

Gorgeous!!! I wonder how rare albino peacocks are. I think I might have seen one at the Phoenix Zoo but it was nothing compared to the photo you have.

QD, maybe not as rare as other albino species. E. has some slides taken years ago of one at the San Diego Zoo, and if the Phoenix Zoo had one too, it seems that there may be more around.
