It's Fever..Spring Fever

Spring was moving in the air above and in the earth below and around him, pene-trating even his dark and lowly little house with its spirit of divine discontent and longing.

...he suddenly flung down his brush on the floor, said, "Bother!" and "O blow!" and also "Hang spring-cleaning!"

.....he scraped and scratched and scrabbled and scrooged, and then he scrooged again and scrabbled and scratched and scraped, working busily with his little paws and muttering to himself, "Up we go! Up we go!" till at last, pop! his
snout came out into the sunlight and he found himself rolling in the warm grass of a great meadow.

"This is fine! he said to himself. "This is better than whitewashing!" The sunshine struck hot on his fur, soft breezes caressed his heated brow...

Jumping off all his four legs at once, in the joy of living and the delight of spring without its cleaning, he pursued his way across the meadow...

I've been feeling a lot like Mole lately...guess it's Spring Fever! I'm drawn out into the sunshine to putter and potter about.... mostly with a shameful lack of accomplishment....just taking pleasure in the warmth of the sun, the sound of a breeze stirring the pines and the greening of the flower beds...
I hope you're enjoying spring as well...

Tomato Dreams....

The Dream is that we'll get to the ripe red globe above or even the firm green cluster below from.....

these pathetically spindly sprouts ......

this is the point where where Faith enters the picture...Early Girl, Novidad,Black Russian,Yellow Pear,....Tom Stripey.......

I have faith that the pathetic sprouts in the picture above will transform into healthy plants that will provide a bumper crop of tomatoes for my family our friends and our neighbors.....
The Renewal of Life is in itself is an act of faith...join me and my tomato sprouts. in a celebration of life's renewal! I can't help but...Rejoice!

Going For a Sunday Drive

My Granddaughter, Jamie has her learners permit and is preparing to hit the road!

Yesterday, we went out to the DVM to practice driving, complete with parking and backing up. This is the second time we've been there, but this time there was traffic! Three other cars were creeping around and even, for a heart stopping second or two, meeting to slide carefully past one another in opposite directions.

_Then we went to a mostly deserted subdivision with smooth, broad streets where Jay drove carefully and well, practicing using her mirrors and turning around while her Mom and I had a relaxed visit. By the time Jay decided to call it a day, we calculated that we could have driven nearly to Tucson in that time (even if not at that speed:) and felt she'd put in some good work toward becoming a responsible driver.
Congratulations Jamie!

Black Bear Quints

I got another wonderful email. This one features a Black Bear sow with five cubs. This time, unlike the eagles over lake Tapps, I found the site of the wildlife photographer who took the photos.
I think these pictures have been circulating for a long time. If you haven't seen these excellent pictures of a rare multiple birth, they and some other very nice wildlife photography are at Tom Sears' site.

Have a lovely day!
