I got these photos via email this morning, and just had to share...
They were taken by Jim, of Jimmie and Debbie Auchinleck who live in Flatrock Newfoundland.
Jim had this to say:
In my whole live in Flatrock, I have never seen a new born baby moose. This one was not even a half a mile from my house. The mother picked a small quiet neighbor in Flatrock and had her baby in the front yard just off Deer Marsh Road ,at 5:30 am. Debbie and I (Jim) were out bike riding when we came upon the pair. The lady across the street from this house told us she saw it being born. We saw them at 5:30 PM. So the little one was 12 hours old. What an awesome place we live in,

Absolutely awesome! You win the prize for best post of the day, She!
Hi Olivia...thanks for the haiku, I do love them and intend to put them in a book with the pix one of these days:)
Hi Liz..I'll just bet you've seen lots of these critters in your lifetime!
I have sent links to this to the Colonel (in Massachusetts, who was writing about moose in Maine recently; to a friend in Juneau, Alaska (who sent a photo of herself beside a moose track recently); and to a friend who lived in Alaska for a number of years.
Great pictures!
And to think that I get excited about spotting a bird nest! Can't imagine being able to witness this in my front yard.
Thanks for the links Cat! I hope your friends enjoyed the pictures:)
Thanks Changes, wouldn't be great just to see a moose..let alone this..
I have to say this is BEYOND awesome! Can you imagine the thrill of being witness to such a thing first hand? Wow! Thanks for sharing.
Wow! I'd love a baby moose - regardless of how big they get as they grow. That little one is so sweet!
Of course I sent these on to OmegaMom who's now up in Alaska. She had a moose wander through her yard yesterday...However, these pix are absolutely awesome, as was the event. The mom looks pretty self-satisfied (and totally in possession of the yard) in the final picture.
Thankyou so much for sharing these great pics!
I will put a mention in my post today, so others can share!
Oh, my..these are amazing pictures! Can you even imagaine looking out, and seeing this in your yard? It's more than wonderful!
These are AMAZING photos!
So touching!
Like everyone else, I have to use the word Amazing...I can't even begin to imagine finding these on my front lawn. What a spectacular happening. Thanks for sharing your friends pics. with us.
What a spectacular group of photos! I have been to Flatrock many times, gorgeous place, but all of Newfoundland is gorgeous in my opinion.
I found you via Meggie. The photos are beautiful thank you so much for sharing. What a wonderful thing to happen in the front yard of a house. Animals are so clever, they know just what they have to do.
Oh that is so cool! The first photo reminds me of a bovine cow and calf soooo much! How interesting that she would just be right there in the yard! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks everyone for your comments! I'm just glad someone shared with me so I could share with you:)
Such unique photos. I love your blog, it makes me smile.
I showed these to my children. These are simply adorable.
What wonderful, wonderful pictures!
Thanks Dabrah:)
Church Lady, I'm glad your children got to see them:)
QD they are! I can say that since they're not mine!
