Remember when I said I'd gladly give up my tomatoes to a Hawkmoth Larva?
Well.....the time has come........
The upside? It returns to feed on the same tomato so I won't lose many,
and maybe I'll have the pleasure of seeing it next year, after metamorphosis,
hovering about the scented blossoms in my little garden.

Don't you think it would be a good idea to plant a nightshade each time you pot a tomato, so that the hawk moth worm has his goodies and you have your own goodies and can enjoy his mothiness next year as well? I would be very sad if such a caterpillar showed up, though I might allow him the roma plant...
Great picture!
gj, it nibbled some leaves and sadly, some blossoms before it settled on this tomato. It came back to this same tomato several times. Now I don't know where it is! Hopefully, in chrysalis stage!
cat, thanks! I was watering, looked up, and there he was...
BTW, you should submit this post to the Circus of the Spineless, which is monthly. Go to this site for further into.
That is a great pic! I always love the markings on those big fat caterpillars. There is so much beauty in unexpected places, if we only stop to see it.
