My Granddaughter, Jamie has her learners permit and is preparing to hit the road!
Yesterday, we went out to the DVM to practice driving, complete with parking and backing up. This is the second time we've been there, but this time there was traffic! Three other cars were creeping around and even, for a heart stopping second or two, meeting to slide carefully past one another in opposite directions.
_Then we went to a mostly deserted subdivision with smooth, broad streets where Jay drove carefully and well, practicing using her mirrors and turning around while her Mom and I had a relaxed visit. By the time Jay decided to call it a day, we calculated that we could have driven nearly to Tucson in that time (even if not at that speed:) and felt she'd put in some good work toward becoming a responsible driver.
Congratulations Jamie!

Isn't this a nerve shattering time? We have three grandchildren of age for driver's license and/or permits and it makes me shutter to think on them on the road, especially after grandpa's accident. Oh woe!
Boy do I remember those days with my sons. A bit unnerving but well worth it. they are both very responsible drivers of 35 and 40 yrs. old. Couple more years and the first Granddaughter will be doing the same as Jay.
GA, all we can do is pray that they have good sense! Poor J has to listen to all my horror stories.
Photo, how is it that our little girls grow up so fast?
The first time I sat next to my, just passed her exams, daughter in her first car I kept sending little prayers up.
Now she is a confident driver and I feel very safe sitting in the passenger's seat.
I recently came accross your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I dont know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
